Wesley Reed | Gateway to Honors, Global Citizen Scholar Plan
My Global Citizen Scholar Mission
I am driven by my passionate beliefs in curiosity, honesty, and loyalty. I pursue these passions by utilizing my core strengths of deliberative, relator, and analytical. I plan to live out these values through opportunities where I am collaborating and creating to achieve leadership and efficiency that impacts peers and technology. To do so, I will seek opportunities to improve processes and educate those around me about technology. When I face challenges or obstacles along the way, I will remember to remain flexible and make connections with others.
One opportunity to carry out this mission is through mentoring my high school robotics team. Using my strengths, beliefs, and knowledge, I can help to lead the next generation to use technology more efficiently and I can use the experiences and knowledge of my professors and fellow team mentors to assist me if I run into issues. My goal in this opportunity would be to make my high school robotics team’s processes more efficient and improve the training and execution for the coding team to make the team more successful and enhance the experience for the team members. Through reflection and conversations with the team leader, I would be able to compare the team’s current state to where it used to be in order to measure my progress toward my goals. Knowing my progress would also help me plan for the future.
I can also take any opportunity to use my technology skills and strengths to help my friends, family, community, and peers with technology. I can use my professors if I needs help, and I can troubleshoot issues and set up new technology and teach others how to use it in order to enhance their experience with technology and make them more efficient. My goal would be to assist anyone who has a technology related need and build relationships with those people. I could measure this progress through reflection on each experience.
